Lecture 2 - Homework - Primary research investigation

Primary Investigation -

Shaun and I went for a walk around Wellington's water front where we are really thinking would be an ideal place for our event / project to be placed.

We walked around Oriental Bay, and for one of the less polluted beaches in the Wellington area we were both shocked by the amount of trash and waste at the waterfront.

Here is a collage of some of the images of rubbish and waste we took -

In the space of 20 seconds in one tiny spot on the beach we found 8 pieces of rubbish.

Some images of the place and spaces where we could position a sculpture - on the beach or on the walk way for easy access

We also both sat and counted the foot traffic going past which was 110 people in 10 minutes at around 3pm in the afternoon meaning approximately 8,000 people would use the waterfront in a day. If just 1/4 of them were to pick up 2 pieces of rubbish each - which is our scheme - that means 4,000 pieces of rubbish will be removed from our beaches and waterways in a day.
